Q. What are some of the most common ways to get rid of scars?

There are many. Several of the products and procedures at our office may be used to either eliminate or make the scar look less noticeable. I may recommend cosmeceutical and prescription-strength products for home use. Everything from chemicals peels and dermabrasion to laser resurfacing and surgical revision may be applied in-office. Some of these treatments are used in combination for best results. 

Q. How do you decide the best treatment plan for me? 

All procedures start with a consultation. I’ll evaluate your skin and review your medical history. The types of products or therapies that may be recommended are based upon factors such as the depth, size, and location of your scar, and your skin tone. 

Q. If my scars are very deep or noticeable, what are my options? 

You may be a good candidate for subcision, which involves surgically releasing the skin that is tethering the scar to underlying tissue. Several sessions of chemical peels, dermabrasion, or lasers can make a difference in the appearance of damage that resides on the skin’s surface. These alternatives, along with products that are stronger than what you find at the store, may also complement therapies or be a big part of your treatment.
